San Felipe man dies after high-voltage cable falls during heavy rain

A man identified as José Meleán Camacho, 50, died in San Felipe, Yaracuy, after coming into contact with a high-voltage power line. The incident occurred at the intersection of Avenida Caracas and Calle 12 following heavy rainfall that caused electrical infrastructure to fail.

Reports indicate that Meleán Camacho had been struck by a vehicle prior to the fatal shock. Witnesses stated that as electricity was restored to the area after a five-hour outage, a high-tension cable detached from a transformer and fell upon him. He was transported to the Hospital Central Dr. Plácido Daniel Rodríguez Rivero, where medical staff confirmed he had no vital signs.

Local police, firefighters, and technical crews from Corpoelec attended the scene to secure the area and investigate the technical causes of the electrical failure.
