San Felipe police clarify role in fatal shooting

The San Felipe Municipal Police issued a statement distancing themselves from an armed confrontation on the Silao-San Felipe highway that resulted in the death of a man. The local force clarified that their involvement was limited to supporting search efforts for a suspected aggressor in the vicinity of San Juan de Llanos.

The incident, which occurred on October 5, involved state security forces who reportedly repelled an attack by two men, leading to one fatality. While the Secretariat of Security and Peace maintains the deceased was part of an attack on officers, social media reports have challenged this version, alleging the individual was not a criminal.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has called for interventions by the National Human Rights Commission and the General Prosecutor's Office following allegations of police torture and repression related to the case.
