San Felipe to receive artificial reef for conservation and tourism

Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena and President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo are coordinating efforts to develop the coastal region of San Felipe. With support from the Secretaría de Marina, an artificial reef system will be created off the coasts of San Felipe and Río Lagartos to protect marine species and promote nature tourism, such as snorkeling and diving.

This initiative is part of a broader transformation in San Felipe aimed at improving the lives of its more than 2,000 residents. Recent developments include improvements to tourism, educational, fishing, and productive infrastructure. Future projects are expected to focus on housing, potable water, electrification, education, and mobility. Additionally, the government is distributing maritime radio communication equipment to enhance emergency response for the 4,500 registered small vessels in the state.
