San Ferdinando to host workshop on Xylella prevention in Calabria
A workshop dedicated to the Xylella bacterium will be held on October 15 in San Ferdinando, Calabria, to address the recent appearance of this phytopathogenic threat in the region. The event aims to provide essential information and prevention strategies to protect local agriculture.
Organized by the municipal administration of San Ferdinando in collaboration with the municipality of Taurianova and various agricultural associations, the initiative is supported by a project funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty. The workshop will bring together entrepreneurs, administrators, and national experts to discuss agroecological best practices to prevent the spread of the disease.
Key participants include regional assessor Gianluca Gallo and experts such as CNR researcher Donato Boscia and Puglian producer Nino Paparella, who will share experiences from Puglia, a region heavily impacted by the bacterium. This follows recent eradication efforts by the Regional Agriculture Department in Taurianova.
