San Fermo residents protest heavy truck traffic

Residents of San Fermo, a hamlet shared by the municipalities of Gazoldo degli Ippoliti, Piubega, and Redondesco, have organized protests to denounce the continuous passage of heavy trucks through the medieval village center.

Citizens report that large vehicles, including those with double trailers, transit through the narrow streets without respecting speed limits. This creates significant danger for pedestrians, particularly near a local supermarket and a nursery school. The road's funnel-like shape and narrow, low sidewalks make it difficult for residents to leave their homes safely.

In addition to safety concerns, the community is suffering from intense noise and vibrations caused by heavy loads passing over sunken manholes, forcing residents to keep windows closed even during summer. Protesters are calling on local mayors to implement immediate solutions, such as diverting heavy traffic to the Piubega/Gazoldo provincial artery, which is better suited for large vehicles.
