San Fernando considers municipalizing sports facility management
The local government of San Fernando is considering the municipalization of its sports facility management. Following the previous municipalization of home help services, the PSOE-led administration aims to internalize the management of seven municipal complexes and various sports spaces through the municipal company Hemsa.
A study commission will be formed this September to evaluate whether direct management is the most efficient model economically, socially, and technically. The current service involves 93 workers, including lifeguards, sports instructors, maintenance staff, and administrative personnel. The scope of the project may expand as new facilities, such as an athletics stadium and new swimming pools, are completed.
