San Fernando municipal authorities face calls over rat infestation and parking project audit

Podemos San Fernando has demanded urgent rat‑control actions in the Plaza del Carmen after residents reported large rodents and health concerns. The party asked the municipal delegate for public space cleaning, Francisco Javier Navarro, to order an intensive de‑ratification campaign and investigate whether the problem extends to other neighbourhoods. Podemos spokesperson Guillermo Gutiérrez described the situation as a public‑health emergency that requires immediate municipal response and preventive measures.

Meanwhile, the People's Party (PP) in the San Fernando council has tabled a motion to audit the city’s tactical parking schemes introduced by the local government. Councilor Joaquín Rodríguez Balestra called for a detailed report comparing the number of parking spaces before and after the works and for checking the functionality of the new services installed. The PP seeks to determine whether the projects have actually increased parking capacity or merely reorganised existing spaces, and to ensure that public investment delivers measurable benefits.
