Spain housing and infrastructure: Local government disputes and urban planning

Various Spanish municipalities are facing local disputes regarding infrastructure and housing availability. In San Fernando, the People's Party (PP) has accused Mayor Patricia Cavada of failing to fulfill commitments to renovate the CEIP Casal Carrillo school, specifically regarding the replacement of deteriorated flooring in kindergarten classrooms.

In Sevilla, the city council is rezoning nearly 40 plots to allow for the construction of over 1,300 free-market homes across several districts, including Triana and San Bernardo, to increase housing supply. Meanwhile, in La Pobla de Farnals, the mayor has issued an ultimatum to Sareb, demanding the construction of 261 affordable rental units on urbanized land or facing forced sale proceedings.

Other regional issues include the demand for the reopening of the San Juan Market in Jumilla due to unfinished works, and the approval in Vegas del Genil to cede land to the Junta de Andalucía for a new school in Ambroz. In Gijón, authorities are finalizing works around the Xosefa de Xovellanos school following resident complaints about missing amenities.
