San Fernando plans new coastal route to Camposoto dog beach after trail closure

The municipal government of San Fernando announced a provisional coastal access to the Camposoto dog beach after the traditional Punta del Boquerón trail was rendered unusable by storm damage earlier this year. The proposed route would start at access point 8, follow the shoreline, and cross a 30‑metre canal via a bridge or foot‑bridge, allowing visitors to reach the pet‑only beach while repairs are carried out.

The plan requires approval from the Junta de Andalucía, as the beach is designated under regional regulations that separate dog areas from the main bathing zones during the high‑season (June‑September). The dog beach, one of the first in Cádiz province, serves a popular community of pet owners and aims to remain open for the summer despite the infrastructure setback.

Local officials highlighted that the alternative path uses an existing informal track already used by residents, making it a cost‑effective solution while the official trail is restored.
