San Fernando Police Department Appoints Anthony Miranda as Interim Chief
The San Fernando Police Department announced that Anthony Miranda will serve as interim police chief while the city conducts a search for a permanent chief. Miranda brings more than 35 years of public‑safety experience in Los Angeles County, including 11 years leading multiple law‑enforcement agencies and overseeing organizational transitions. He previously served as police chief for Bell, Irwindale and Vernon and acted as a liaison for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
City Manager Kanika Kith said, “Chief Miranda’s experience stabilizing police departments during major transitions and modernizing public safety operations makes him well‑suited to lead the department while the city conducts a thorough recruitment for its next permanent police chief.” The department thanked Acting Chief John Perez for his temporary assignment that ran from June 10 through Monday. The search for a permanent chief is expected to take four to six months, and the city will provide multilingual opportunities for residents, businesses and community stakeholders to offer input.
