Brock Purdy leads 49ers to 3-0 start amid MVP discussions
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has led his team to an undefeated 3-0 start in the 2026 NFL season, earning him the NFC Offensive Player of the Month honors. Purdy has recorded nine touchdown passes and maintains a league-leading 133.1 passer rating, while notably remaining the only starting quarterback in the league without a sack through three games.
General Manager John Lynch noted Purdy’s increased conviction and ability to combine efficiency with explosive plays. This performance has drawn praise from seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, who stated that Purdy should be considered in “tier-one QB discussions.”
The 49ers face a significant challenge this Sunday against the Denver Broncos. While San Francisco boasts a high-scoring offense, they must contend with a Denver defense led by coordinator Vance Joseph. Conversely, the 49ers may find success attacking the Broncos' run defense, which currently ranks among the league's worst in rushing yards allowed per game.
Despite the team's success, the 49ers are managing several injuries. Defensive end Mykel Williams has begun his practice window following an ACL injury, but other players, including Nick Bosa and Mike Evans, have missed practice or are sidelined.
