San Francisco 49ers face trade speculation for Mac Jones

Speculation regarding a potential trade of quarterback Mac Jones by the San Francisco 49ers has resurfaced following a strong preseason debut by Kurtis Rourke. Rourke, a 2025 seventh-round pick, completed 12 of 14 passes for 101 yards during the team's preseason opener against the Tennessee Titans, marking his first game action in 601 days after recovering from a torn ACL.

While no official trade is active, analysts suggest Rourke’s performance could increase the likelihood of the 49ers moving Jones before the November 10 trade deadline. The 49ers had previously sought at least a second-round pick for Jones during the offseason, a price point that no team met. Jones, a 2021 first-round pick, served as a reliable backup last season, ranking second in the NFL in completion percentage while starting nine games in place of Brock Purdy.
