San Francisco 49ers make roster moves and address player status

The San Francisco 49ers have made several roster adjustments following their final cuts. The team re-signed safety Ashtyn Davis and punter Corliss Waitman to one-year contracts. To accommodate these moves, cornerback Nate Hobbs and linebacker Nick Martin were placed on the Injured Reserve list.

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk remains on the reserve/left squad list. General manager John Lynch confirmed that Aiyuk does not currently count against the 53-man roster and that no changes have been made regarding his previously due option bonus. In a symbolic move, Demarcus Robinson has switched his jersey number from No. 7 to No. 11, the number previously worn by Aiyuk.

Additionally, tight end George Kittle addressed speculation regarding his recovery from an Achilles injury. Following comments from head coach Kyle Shanahan that were interpreted by some as a setback, Kittle responded on social media to dismiss the rumors. Reports indicate Kittle has had no setbacks and is expected to practice as he aims to play in the season opener.
