San Francisco 49ers sign Khalid Kareem from Falcons practice squad

The San Francisco 49ers are signing outside linebacker Khalid Kareem from the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad to their active roster. The move comes as a response to Sam Okuayinonu being ruled out due to a foot injury.

Kareem, a 28-year-old former fifth-round pick from the 2020 NFL Draft, previously played under 49ers defensive coordinator Raheem Morris during his time in Atlanta. He appeared in four games for the Falcons during the 2025 season, recording seven tackles and one pass defended.

Kareem is expected to be available for Week 1. His addition aims to provide depth on the edge, potentially easing the workload for Nick Bosa and Keion White. The 49ers may also consider further roster adjustments depending on the severity of injuries to other players like Romello Height.
