San Francisco 49ers sign veteran edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwe
The San Francisco 49ers have signed veteran edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwe to strengthen their defensive line after injuries reduced depth at the position. The move reunites Okoronkwe with defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, with whom he worked in Los Angeles. Okoronkwe, a 2018 fifth‑round pick out of Oklahoma, previously played for the Rams, Texans, Browns and Eagles, recording 132 tackles, 17 sacks and four forced fumbles over 81 games.
The signing comes as the 49ers manage the workloads of star pass rushers Nick Bosa and Keion White and cope with rookie Mykel Williams on the PUP list. Okoronkwe’s experience in multiple defensive schemes is expected to provide flexibility and depth for the team heading into the new season.
