San Francisco 49ers sign WR Dante Pettis amid injury crisis
The San Francisco 49ers are reuniting with wide receiver Dante Pettis to address a mounting injury crisis within their receiving corps. Pettis, a former second-round pick for the team in the 2018 NFL Draft, is expected to join the practice squad following a workout on Tuesday.
The move comes as the 49ers face significant depth issues. Veteran Mike Evans is currently dealing with a rib injury, while other receivers including Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, De’Zhaun Stribling, and Demarcus Robinson have been sidelined due to various injuries.
Pettis, 30, brings familiarity to the organization, having previously played three seasons in San Francisco. His experience with head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offensive system is expected to allow him to contribute quickly as a depth option. Since his initial departure from the 49ers, Pettis has spent time with the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and New Orleans Saints.
