San Francisco, Argentina and Santander, Spain Launch Major Water Infrastructure Upgrades

The Municipality of San Francisco in Argentina will modernize its potable‑water pumping system, installing four new submersible electrobombas with variable‑speed drives, stainless‑steel pipelines, a SCADA control centre and other upgrades. The project, costing about 1.5 billion Argentine pesos and slated for completion in 180 days, aims to improve efficiency, safety and sustainability of a water network that has served the city for over 70 years.

The City Council of Santander, Spain, approved a €8.39 million renewal of its main water‑supply artery between the El Pedroso chamber and Campogiro. Over a 12‑month period, 2.3 km of aging cast‑iron conduit will be replaced with ductile‑iron pipe, enhancing capacity, reducing maintenance needs and securing water delivery for the municipality. Environment councilor Margarita Rojo highlighted the work as a strategic step toward a more robust and reliable public‑water system.
