San Francisco de Macorís man dies after shooting by brother-in-law
Edgar Alberto Sánchez has died following a shooting in San Francisco de Macorís. Sánchez sustained a gunshot wound to the head during a confrontation with his brother-in-law, Braylin Alexis Guzmán.
Guzmán surrendered to authorities following the incident. He claimed the conflict began when he attempted to intervene while Sánchez was allegedly assaulting his sister, who suffers from epilepsy. Guzmán stated that after he initially left the scene, Sánchez followed him to his residence and attempted to attack him again, at which point the shot was fired.
Reports indicate that after being wounded, Sánchez waited approximately 45 minutes for an ambulance. Medical professionals reportedly determined that the severity of the head injury made surgical intervention unfeasible. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
