San Francisco developer faces backlash over Tenderloin-themed zombie game

Developer Pierre-Louis Biojout has released a free, multiplayer browser-based zombie shooter game set in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood. The game, which Biojout claims he built in a single weekend using AI coding tools, has sparked significant controversy for its depiction of the city's streets and its vulnerable populations.

Critics have condemned the project, accusing the developer of monetizing the city's homelessness and drug crisis for entertainment. Biojout responded to the backlash on X, stating, “San Francisco couldn’t fix the Tenderloin. So I monetized it.”

While many social media users have labeled the game atrocious, some players have defended it, and others have redirected criticism toward San Francisco city officials regarding the state of the neighborhood.
