San Francisco family reunites with responders after roadside birth
A family in San Francisco has reunited with the doula and first responders who assisted in the roadside birth of their daughter, Cielle Ray, in Golden Gate Park.
During heavy weekend traffic, parents Nate Geminiano and Karollyn Zepeda became stuck in a backup while attempting to reach a hospital. As labor progressed rapidly, Katie Higgins, a trained doula, provided immediate assistance to the mother before emergency crews could arrive.
First responders, including EMT Brian Ingram and Paramedic Octavio Rubio, were also delayed by the congestion and eventually proceeded on foot with medical equipment to reach the scene. In recognition of their efforts, the responders were presented with pink stork pins.
