San Francisco Ferry Building hit by three-hour power outage

The San Francisco Ferry Building experienced a three-hour power outage on Wednesday morning, disrupting businesses and transit operations at the iconic waterfront landmark. The unplanned outage began at 6:42 a.m. and affected approximately 455 customers before service was restored at 9:30 a.m., according to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E).

The disruption impacted several businesses during the morning rush, including Blue Bottle and Red Bay Coffee. Beyond the building's interior, the outage reportedly affected nearby traffic signals and pedestrian crossing signs. The Ferry Building serves as a major transit hub and attracts roughly 24 million visitors annually.

PG&E stated that the cause of the outage is currently under investigation. While crews worked to repair damaged sections of the electrical system, the incident adds to a series of recent power disruptions in the Bay Area, including a large-scale outage in late July and a recent incident near the Oakland Coliseum BART station.
