San Francisco firefighters rescue man from garbage truck

A man was rescued from a Recology garbage truck in downtown San Francisco during the early hours of Wednesday. The incident began when a pedestrian noticed strange noises coming from the vehicle and signaled the driver to stop.

San Francisco firefighters and paramedics conducted a two-hour operation to locate the individual. Because the man's exact position within the waste was unknown, crews had to carefully unload the entire truck, manually searching through piles of debris to avoid injuring him during the extraction.

The man was found conscious and was subsequently transported to a local trauma center for medical treatment. During the rescue, one firefighter sustained a hand injury and required stitches. Authorities noted that such incidents occasionally occur when individuals enter dumpsters in search of food or other items.
