San Francisco Giants select right‑hander Jackson Flora with fourth overall pick

The San Francisco Giants used the fourth overall selection in the 2026 Major League Baseball draft to sign 21‑year‑old right‑hander Jackson Flora. A native of Walnut Creek and a UC Santa Barbara alumnus, Flora posted a 1.06 ERA with 12 wins, 133 strikeouts and 32 walks over 102 innings in the 2026 college season. He signed a $7.99 million bonus, roughly $1 million below the slot value, and met Giants president of baseball operations Buster Posey at Oracle Park.

Giants manager Tony Vitello praised Flora’s size, durability and athleticism, saying he could move quickly through the farm system. Flora is working with former Giant pitcher Ryan Vogelsong at the team's complex in Phoenix and hopes to appear for a San Jose minor‑league affiliate before the season ends. The organization views him as a potential cornerstone of a pitching pipeline reminiscent of past home‑grown stars such as Madison Bumgarner and Tim Lincecum.
