San Francisco Giants trade rumors and rising prospect spotlight team moves

The San Francisco Giants are expected to move infielder Luis Arraez before the trade deadline. Arraez, signed to a one‑year, $12 million contract, leads MLB in the lowest strikeout rate for a fifth straight season and ranks in the 99th percentile defensively. Analysts suggest the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays or Arizona Diamondbacks as possible destinations.

Prospect shortstop Maui Ahuna, a 24‑year‑old Hawaiian native who played for the University of Tennessee, is developing in Double‑A with the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Scouts note his left‑handed power potential of 15‑20 home runs per season, but also highlight a high strikeout rate of over 32 percent and difficulties against left‑handed pitching. Ahuna has posted 12 stolen bases in 68 games and is part of a quartet of former Tennessee players signed by the Giants after their 2024 national championship.
