San Francisco hosts international fencing training
An international training program is currently underway in San Francisco, Argentina, to promote the development of fencing. From September 28 to October 2, European champion Paolo Gay and master Francesco Barile are conducting technical and educational workshops at the Instituto FASTA Inmaculada Concepción.
The training is specifically designed for Physical Education students and primary school teachers, focusing on teaching methodologies and the formative aspects of the discipline. This initiative is part of a visit by an Italian delegation, facilitated by the twinning agreement between San Francisco and the Italian city of Pinerolo.
Local officials and educators aim to establish a strong foundation for the sport in the region. Javier Castelli, coordinator of the Physical Education program at FASTA, expressed the goal of having between 50 and 100 local children practicing fencing in the coming years. The project follows the recent establishment of the Municipal Fencing School and seeks to integrate the Olympic sport into local educational and athletic offerings.
