San Francisco property and Vallejo restaurant face local challenges

In San Francisco, a dilapidated Victorian home on Farallones Street sold for $555,000, exceeding its $449,000 asking price despite severe damage. The property featured a collapsed roof, a charred interior, and significant debris. The home had been occupied by a squatter since the COVID-19 pandemic after the elderly owner became incapacitated. Neighbors reported the occupant was responsible for fires in the residential area.

In Vallejo, the long-standing waterfront restaurant Zio Fraedo’s is closing after 20 years of operation. Owners Tony and Sherry LoForte cited a lease standoff with the city of Vallejo, which acts as the landlord, as the primary cause. The owners stated that a proposed rent increase would make the business unsustainable, despite existing economic pressures such as rising food costs and tariffs.
