San Francisco prosecutors secure burglary conviction and decline murder charges

In San Francisco, two individuals, Ervin Nicolas (41) and Marivic Aliga (46), have been convicted of second-degree burglary following a jury trial. The conviction stems from an October 2025 incident in the Sunset District, where the pair broke into an unoccupied residence on Lawton Street. Police discovered the suspects hiding in a basement closet after neighbors reported seeing them removing items from the home to a vehicle.

Separately, the San Francisco District Attorney’s office has declined to file murder charges against Gregory C. Morton in connection with the March 2024 fatal shooting of 24-year-old Tertron Johnson in Sunnydale. Although a warrant had been previously issued for Morton’s arrest, prosecutors stated there was insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the suspect was not acting in self-defense. Morton has been released, though the investigation remains active.
