San Fratello completes €500,000 road consolidation project

Consolidation works have been completed on a section of the SP 163/D Via dei Normanni in the municipality of San Fratello. The €500,000 project addressed a landslide that had caused the roadway to narrow.

Funded through the 2014/2020 Complementary Operational Program (POC), the intervention focused on a 40-meter stretch located approximately 500 meters from the junction with the SS 289 San Fratello-Cesarò. The works, managed by the Metropolitan City of Messina's Road Department, included the construction of a retaining wall, rainwater drainage systems, roadbed restoration, new paving, safety barriers, and updated road signage.

Metropolitan Mayor Federico Basile stated that while the road faces broader issues, this specific intervention restores safety and partial functionality to the affected section, ensuring more secure transit conditions for the community.
