San Gerardo Foundation to host international pulmonary fibrosis conference

The Fondazione IRCCS San Gerardo dei Tintori will host the first “San Gerardo” International Conference on Pulmonary Fibrosis on October 1, 2026, in Monza, Italy. The event aims to establish a multidisciplinary dialogue between international specialists regarding interstitial lung diseases and pulmonary fibrosis.

Under the scientific leadership of Fabrizio Luppi, Director of the Pneumology Clinic at San Gerardo and Professor at the University of Milano-Bicocca, the conference will cover the entire patient journey. Topics include epidemiology, diagnosis, disease characterization, complication management, and follow-up. Specific areas of focus include idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, fibrotic hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and interstitial lung diseases associated with autoimmune rheumatic diseases.

Discussions will also address the relationship between COPD and pulmonary fibrosis, alongside advanced diagnostic tools such as CT phenotyping and invasive diagnostic procedures. Claudio Cogliati, President of the Foundation, noted that hosting such an event highlights the institution's role in clinical care, research, and scientific exchange.
