San Gerardo Hospital in Monza acquires new nephrology ultrasound
The Nephrology Department at IRCCS San Gerardo in Monza has acquired a new high-performance ultrasound machine. The equipment was purchased through a donation made in memory of Franca Adele Resegotti.
The device is designed for high diagnostic performance and ease of movement, allowing it to be used in outpatient clinics, at the patient's bedside, and specifically within dialysis rooms. Key clinical applications include renal and urinary tract ultrasounds, adrenal gland imaging, and renal artery Doppler exams.
Additionally, the ultrasound will support the management of arteriovenous fistulas by studying upper limb vascularity, monitoring peritoneal dialysis catheters, and assisting in invasive procedures such as renal biopsies and the placement of central venous catheters. Professor Federico Pieruzzi, Director of the Nephrology Department, noted that the portability of the device allows diagnostics to be brought directly to where they are needed most, including the dialysis room.
