Italy healthcare: New maternity wing in Monza and regional service expansions

Various regional healthcare updates are being implemented across Italy. At San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, a new maternity area will open on September 9, featuring seven delivery rooms and a relocated obstetric and gynecological emergency department to improve patient care and integration with maternal-infant services.

In Termoli, Asrem has established a new advanced echocardiography and cardiovascular diagnostics unit at San Timoteo Hospital to reduce waiting lists and enhance diagnostic capabilities for ischemic heart disease. Meanwhile, in Mappano, the Casa della Salute will launch a new nursing clinic in collaboration with the Italian Red Cross to provide primary care and clinical monitoring.

In the Caltanissetta province, efforts are underway to strengthen local services, including the enhancement of the Niscemi Community House with psychiatry and psychology services and the integration of Gela Hospital into university training networks. In Abruzzo, the Ugl Salute union has raised concerns regarding staffing shortages and organizational challenges within the ASL of Teramo, despite acknowledging the dedication of medical personnel.
