San Gimignano cemetery to be renamed Garden of the Most Beautiful Memories

Starting November 1, the Cimitero della Misericordia in San Gimignano will officially be renamed the “Giardino delle memorie più belle” (Garden of the Most Beautiful Memories). This change follows the completion of a vegetation restructuring project designed to transform the site from a traditionally “sad” location into a peaceful environment for reflection and memory.

The renovation was made possible through the generosity of the Giorgio Tesi Foundation, an entity linked to the Giorgio Tesi Group of Pistoia, which donated many of the plants used in the project. The landscaping includes the planting of cypresses and various colorful, fragrant shrubs traditional to Tuscany. A dedicated rest area has also been established, featuring benches and an olive tree, which serves as a symbol of peace.

In addition to the greenery, plans are underway for a global renewal of the electrical systems powering votive lamps, as well as the continued renovation and consolidation of various pavilions.
