San Gimignano launches 2026 Orizzonti Verticali multidisciplinary festival

San Gimignano will host the 14th edition of the Orizzonti Verticali festival from July 30 to August 2, 2026. The four‑day event presents a multidisciplinary program that blends theatre, dance, music, performance and immersive installations across the historic medieval city.

The edition marks the start of a new phase for the festival after the termination of its long‑standing collaboration with the Fondazione Fabbrica Europa. Festival directors Tuccio Guicciardi and Patrizia de Bari said, "L'edizione 2026 segna l'inizio di una nuova fase per il progetto" and emphasized their determination to maintain continuity despite reduced financial resources.

Organised by the Compagnia Giardino Chiuso, the festival is supported by the Comune di San Gimignano, Regione Toscana and Banca Cambiano. Highlights include an opening light‑installation tribute to Giancarlo Cauteruccio, a national recital by soprano Monica Benvenuti, the itinerant dance show Ex Tempore, and the theatre piece "L'imputato non è colpevole" set against the backdrop of the Armenian genocide. Additional programs feature workshops, concerts, and the OV OFF Sound section dedicated to emerging musical languages.
