Italy reports multiple domestic violence incidents and local political unrest

Various incidents of domestic violence and local political unrest have been reported across several Italian regions.

In Gragnano, a 30-year-old man was arrested after allegedly attacking his 75-year-old grandmother with a broomstick and his mother. In Piano di Sorrento, a 20-year-old was detained for assaulting his mother and brother following a dispute over drug money. Meanwhile, in Lido di Spina, a man was arrested for causing rib and nasal fractures to his partner during a violent assault witnessed by their child. In Copertino, a 62-year-old man was apprehended after allegedly shooting his daughter's partner during a family argument.

On the political front, the Mayor of Meta has dissolved his municipal council, retaining only one assessor. In Palermo, the President of the City Council has defended the administration against criticisms regarding the suspension of council meetings during the Ferragosto holiday. In Fiumicino, opposition leaders are demanding increased security following a robbery and assault on a cyclist.
