San Giuliano Terme farmer wins court ruling on waste‑tax demand

An agricultural entrepreneur in San Giuliano Terme was ordered to pay almost €600,000 for five years of waste‑tax (TARI) assessed at the industrial rate. The local branch of Coldiretti argued that farms should not be subject to the ordinary TARI because their waste is classified as special and managed directly by the businesses.

A court judge annulled the assessment notices for three of the years, ruling in favor of the flower‑and‑plant producer. The municipality has appealed the decision, while Coldiretti denounced the original charge as an illegal, discriminatory over‑reach that ignores the farm’s actual financial capacity.
