San Isidro bank robbery gang dismantled in Argentina

Authorities in Argentina have dismantled a criminal organization responsible for planning an audacious robbery at a Banco Macro branch in San Isidro. The group, led by Eduardo Enrique Ripa, had constructed a tunnel approximately 150 to 155 meters long from an adjacent property to access the bank vault. The plot was thwarted when the tunnel was discovered before the criminals could reach the facility.

Following a series of coordinated raids in the City and Province of Buenos Aires, police arrested Eduardo Enrique Ripa, his son Christian Ripa, and Uruguayan national Alejandro Quiroga de los Santos. The suspects face charges of attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated damage. Authorities have also requested the international capture of Giampaolo Fadda, an Italian national allegedly involved in the group.

Investigations led by Prosecutor Patricio Ferrari revealed that the gang had planned similar heists in Recoleta and Chivilcoy. Evidence also suggests links between Ripa and Marcelo D’Alessio, a fraudulent lawyer currently detained for illicit association and money laundering. Furthermore, investigators identified connections to a police officer who reportedly provided information to help the gang evade detection.
