San Isidro: Lawyer held hostage during robbery in Beccar gated community

Lawyer Tomás Makintach, brother of former judge Julieta Makintach, was robbed and held hostage during an early morning home invasion at the Las Ovejitas gated community in Beccar, San Isidro.

Three criminals entered the residence around 3:30 AM on Sunday. The perpetrators stole US$1,000 in cash, a cell phone, a watch, a video game console, and car keys, and transferred 800,000 pesos from a virtual wallet. The victim was forced to drive the criminals in his Ford Kuga to exit the complex, after which he was abandoned. Makintach was reported unharmed.

Before fleeing, the thieves left a message on a wall reading ‘La Banda del Millón. Nano’. While this references a known criminal organization, judicial sources stated there is currently no evidence directly linking the perpetrators to that group. Investigators suspect at least two of the suspects may be minors. The incident occurred shortly after police had been in the area following a neighbor's report of suspicious activity, though security personnel reportedly denied officers entry to the complex at that time.
