Argentina and Chile municipal road repair projects advance

Municipalities in Argentina are accelerating a series of road‑work programmes. In Quilmes, concrete pothole repairs are being carried out on three streets, with 250 interventions covering about 13,000 m² scheduled between July and October. San Isidro is reconstructing pavement on Blanco Encalada, a three‑week project that also includes a temporary railway suspension on the Mitre line. Ushuaia’s public works team is widening streets and cleaning drainage in the Barrancas del Pipo neighbourhood ahead of winter. The towns of La Rural and Santa Rita are seeing pavement work on 34 blocks, funded entirely by the municipal budget. In Río Negro province, the access road to San Javier is 80 % complete, with a September inauguration planned after final signage and lighting are installed. In Chile, Santa María (Chile) has begun a new 1.5‑km sewage‑pipeline stretch with traffic diversions, while the O’Higgins region started mitigation works on Avenida Sanchina in Machalí after a contractor abandonment, allocating about 290 million CLP for concrete, asphalt and safety upgrades. These coordinated efforts aim to improve traffic safety, transit efficiency and local infrastructure resilience.
