San José Iturbide 911 project under audit for 39 million pesos
The Auditoría Superior del Estado de Guanajuato (ASEG) has identified potential irregularities regarding a 39 million peso project intended for the technological update of the 911 emergency system in San José Iturbide.
The audit, covering the 2024 fiscal year, found that the project was authorized to the Bomberos Voluntarios de San José Iturbide, A.C. in violation of regulations governing project evaluation and selection. According to the ASEG report, public funds were channeled to a civil association that lacked the legal authority to execute public security actions, as such projects should fall under municipal government planning and budgeting.
As a result of these findings, the oversight body has determined that a “reintegro en especie de los recursos observados” (restitution in kind of the observed resources) must be carried out. The matter remains under judicial review.
