San Jose Earthquakes face critical MLS regular-season finish

San Jose Earthquakes head into a decisive final stretch of the MLS regular season facing the risk of falling into wildcard slots rather than securing direct playoff qualification. Coach Bruce Arena described the upcoming period as “critically important” following a period of poor form where the team managed only one win in their last six matches.

In their most recent outing, a 3-0 loss to FC Dallas, the Earthquakes conceded all three goals after the 80th minute, marking a historic statistical anomaly for the club. Arena noted that a lack of clinical finishing has been a primary issue, stating, “You know, you got to finish your chances... not being able to convert a quality chance makes a difference in the game.”

The team has three matches remaining: home games against the Colorado Rapids and Real Salt Lake, followed by an away match against Minnesota United. While San Jose relies on Preston Judd, who has scored 16 goals this season, they face a resilient Colorado Rapids side that has recently demonstrated strong defensive form.
