San Jose Sharks bolster operations amid rising expectations

The San Jose Sharks are showing signs of progress heading into the 2026–27 NHL season. Following a 19-win improvement last season, the team finished with a 39–35–8 record under head coach Ryan Warsofsky. The franchise's momentum is driven largely by center Macklin Celebrini, who recorded 115 points (45 goals and 70 assists) in the 2025–26 season, breaking the team's single-season points record previously held by Joe Thornton. Celebrini recently signed a five-year, $94 million extension.

In addition to on-ice developments, the Sharks have announced several changes to their hockey operations department. New hires include amateur scouts Cameron Burt and Tyler Holske, head physical therapist Scott Greenberg, and emergency backup goalie Nathan Airey. The organization also promoted Eric Pinsky to assistant video coach and Josh Woodard to head equipment manager.
