San Jose Sharks eye playoff contention for 2026–27 season

The San Jose Sharks enter the 2026–27 NHL season as a rising young team following a significant improvement in performance. Last season, the team earned 86 points, a 34-point increase from the previous year, finishing just four points shy of a playoff spot.

Key to this development was Macklin Celebrini, who recorded 115 points (45 goals and 70 assists) in 82 games, setting a new franchise record for a single season. The team's roster continues to integrate young talent, including Michael Misa, who recorded 21 points in 45 games during his rookie season, and upcoming players such as Will Smith, Ivar Stenberg, and Keaton Verhoeff.

Looking ahead to the 2026–27 campaign, the Sharks are scheduled to face the Boston Bruins twice in October. San Jose swept the season series against Boston last year with two wins.
