San Jose Sharks sign goaltender Ilya Samsonov to one-year deal

The San Jose Sharks have signed veteran goaltender Ilya Samsonov to a one-year, two-way contract. The move provides depth to the Sharks' crease, which currently includes Alex Nedeljkovic and Yaroslav Askarov.

Samsonov returns to North American professional hockey following the 2025-26 season, during which he played for HK Sochi in the KHL. His career NHL statistics include 118 wins and 13 shutouts across 200 games, with a 2.77 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. Prior to his time in the KHL, he played for the Vegas Golden Knights and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
