San Jose Sharks sign head coach Ryan Warsofsky to extension
The San Jose Sharks have signed head coach Ryan Warsofsky to a multi-year contract extension. While the specific financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, the move provides stability for the franchise as Warsofsky enters his third season as head coach.
Warsofsky, who joined the organization in 2022 as an assistant coach, has overseen a significant on-ice turnaround. Following a 20-50-12 record in his first year as head coach, the team improved to 39-35-8 during the 2025-26 season, finishing just four points shy of a playoff spot. General manager Mike Grier credited the coaching staff and the development of young talent, such as Macklin Celebrini, for the team’s progress from the bottom of the standings to a legitimate postseason contender.
Prior to his tenure in San Jose, Warsofsky held head coaching positions in both the ECHL and AHL, where he won a Calder Cup with the Chicago Wolves in 2022.
