San Jose State defeats Cal Poly 30-20
San Jose State defeated Cal Poly 30-20 on Saturday night, preventing an upset by the FCS-member Mustangs. The game was tied at 20-20 entering the fourth quarter before the Spartans pulled away.
San Jose State quarterback Luke Weaver threw two touchdown passes to receiver Carson Clark, including a 41-yard score that helped secure the lead. Jabari Bates contributed significantly to the victory with 163 rushing yards on 27 carries. Trajan Sinatra also provided key points by successfully converting three of five field goal attempts.
Cal Poly quarterback Anthony Grigsby Jr. recorded 249 passing yards and one touchdown, but the Mustangs were hampered by two interceptions and a missed extra point earlier in the game. Following the loss, Cal Poly moves to a 2-1 record and will next host the University of San Diego. San Jose State also moves to 2-1 and will play Fresno State next.
