San Juan del Cesar activates backup water aqueduct

The Empresa de Servicios Públicos de La Guajira (ESEPGUA) has activated a backup water aqueduct for the municipality of San Juan del Cesar. The project involves connecting an adduction line between a valve from the Rural Development Agency (ADR) and the local drinking water treatment plant.

This infrastructure will transport raw water from the El Cercado reservoir to the Corral de Piedra treatment plant. The connection serves as an alternative supply to the Cesar River, benefiting approximately 45,000 residents in the urban center and the districts of La Junta, La Peña, and Curazao.

The project included nearly $570 million pesos in investments for maintenance and the correction of leaks to ensure the system's hydraulic integrity. The official delivery was led by Agriculture Minister Indalecio Dangond, alongside regional authorities and ESEPGUA manager Andreina García.
