Global mental health initiatives focus on youth and prevention
Various regions across Latin America and Spain are launching initiatives to mark World Mental Health Day, with a strong emphasis on adolescent wellbeing and suicide prevention.
In Argentina, educational workshops in Ushuaia and Luján are addressing mental health access and youth rights, while Tucumán and Hospital Perrando are strengthening specialized care networks for teenagers. In Mexico, San Juan del Río is establishing a municipal inter-institutional network to coordinate mental health services and prevention protocols.
In Spain, regional authorities in Zamora, Huelva, and the Marina Alta are conducting awareness campaigns and institutional declarations. These efforts focus on the high prevalence of emotional distress among youth and the need for community-based support to combat social stigma and resource scarcity in rural areas. Meanwhile, in the Triple Frontier region, Itaipu Binacional concluded a trilateral campaign focused on suicide prevention through technical training and awareness.
