Latin American regions expand digital education and connectivity

Various regional governments and private entities in Latin America are implementing initiatives to bridge the digital divide through technology distribution and training.

In Chile, JUNAEB is distributing thousands of notebooks to students via the Becas TIC program. This includes 235 computers in Victoria, 4,943 notebooks in the Antofagasta region, and 1,365 computers for students in the Elqui service area.

In Argentina, the Chubut Ministry of Education completed a training program for teachers on integrating Artificial Intelligence into pedagogy. Meanwhile, the San Juan government distributed 3,000 computers to teachers through its “Maestro de América, Cultivando el futuro” program, with a goal of providing 30,000 devices to the educational community by 2026.

In Peru, Claro Perú announced plans to deploy 5,429 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure during 2026 to improve connectivity across 24 departments. In Mexico, the Bachillerato Integral de Guanajuato is expanding its educational model from 26 to 66 campuses to increase high school coverage for youth.
