San Juan hosts Cordillera Quad, first major Quad Skate event

The Cordillera Quad event recently took place at the Skatepark Olímpico de Pocito in San Juan, marking the first competitive Quad Skate event in the province. The competition drew participants and specialists from various Argentine provinces, including Mendoza, Rosario, and Córdoba.

Quad Skate is an urban discipline performed on four-wheeled skates equipped with sliders, which allow athletes to slide on edges and rails, distinguishing it from artistic skating. The event featured both competitive segments and instructional clinics. Organizers noted that the Pocito skatepark provides some of the best infrastructure in the country for the sport due to its diverse challenges.

In addition to the competition, a local school has been established to teach the discipline, currently enrolling 40 children of various ages. Organizers are working to develop a formal competitive structure, including specific regulations for acrobatic maneuvers and classifications for beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
