San Juan implements new regulations for app-based transport services

San Juan is preparing to launch app-based transportation services under Law No. 2799-A. Provincial authorities have confirmed that pilot tests are underway, with an official technological tool and website expected to debut soon.

To operate on these platforms, drivers must be registered with ARCA (using CUIT or CUIL) and possess a professional driver's license. Vehicles must be no more than 10 years old, have a valid technical inspection (RTO), and carry specialized passenger transport insurance. For safety, vehicles must feature permanent geolocation and a visible QR code for passengers to verify driver and vehicle authorization.

In parallel, a local platform called VAMOS APP has been developed by regional entrepreneurs to compete with international services like Uber or DiDi. The platform aims to offer higher earnings for drivers and a benefits club for both users and workers, featuring discounts at local businesses such as mechanics, pharmacies, and retail stores. VAMOS APP utilizes direct payments via cash or bank transfer to avoid immediate commission retention.
